Abraham Thariyan is an Independent Director of Unimoni India. With over four decades of experience in the financial sector, Abraham is an acknowledged banking professional and the co-author of the book “Hand Book on Bankers”.
He has held several senior management positions in large private sector banks in India. Most recently he was the Executive Director of South Indian Bank, being the second-in-command of the bank from April 2009 to September 2014.
Prior to joining South Indian Bank as its Executive Director, Abraham spent 36 years with Federal Bank, where he was the senior-most General Manager in charge of international banking, treasury, credit (SME), asset recovery, financial services and NRI services as well as overseeing the representative offices and retail gold business. He was the Regional Head (DGM) for some of the bank’s largest regions such as Mumbai, Chennai and Thrissur at various points in time, responsible for the overall business development (deposit, credit) of all branches in the respective regions.
Abraham has 20 years of experience in International Banking and Foreign Exchange and was an elected Managing Committee member of FEDAI (Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India) for 15 years, representing private sector banks. An MBA graduate with a postgraduate degree in Arts, Abraham is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).
